A Further Short Update on Dan

Dan has had his treatment and we are now out the other side.

It went well, despite one or two little set backs, such as the machine breaking down just as Dan was all prepped and ready to go, so he had to wait a further two hours; then a "part" fell off the machine during use, and they had to keep him under longer whilst they repaired it.  Such is life.

I am very glad we booked an extra night in London at the small "hospital hotel" just a block away, as he wasn't well enough to go home on Saturday night, and they kept him in until the next morning.

Since being home he has kept me running around so much that I have very little time for chat; and we seem to have a constant stream of visitors or the phone is always going.  If anyone would like to know what being a "quietly submissive wife" is like, I am gaining experience by the second.  I am rapidly getting to the "Take ten deep breaths before you answer" stage!

All joking aside, Dan is just being Dan, and like all men hates being under par and having to rest and stay put. Thank heavens for mobile phones, downstreaming, and tablets (of the hi tech variety). And newspapers!  I've never bought so many.

Dan has had no pain whatsoever from the High Intensity Focused Ultrasound treatment.  But the catheter is, and shall remain, a pain both for him and for me.  For him because it is at best uncomfortable, and at worst downright painful, as well as being an utter nuisance; and for me because he is constantly moaning about it and says he wishes he knew enough about anatomy to improve the design of the things.  Smile ladies!

I'd like to thank everyone once again for all the support and kind emails we have received.  If I didn't manage to answer all your comments last time, let me say how much I appreciated them and all the good wishes and prayers you sent us.

I do plan to get back to normal blogging, but I am a bit inundated at the moment, and I think it could be next week before I am able to draw breath in the normal way.

So bye for now, and see you later Alligators!

An Update on Dan

First of all I want to say a great big thank you to all my friends who have emailed me recently.  Your support makes me teary and you have no idea how it helps to hear from you.

I think I am doing most of the worrying on Dan's behalf as the date of his operation draws nigh.

He went to the London hospital and had all his pre-assessments last Friday.  The usual things - bloods, ECG, blood pressure and cholesterol etc.

The operation/procedure will take place at 7.30am on 22nd March.  The hospital are putting us up in a hotel overnight, which is a good thing.

He is having the High Frequency Ultrasound we had hoped he would be able to have, which is some sort of a relief, as apparently it has the least side effects of all the prostate cancer treatments.  He will be kept in hospital for 24 hours and has to have a catheter for around ten days as he will be very swollen and have difficulties otherwise.

The operation is done through the perineum.  They are operating on the right side only.  The cancer is "intermediate".  They are leaving the left side alone as the cancer there is only approx 2mm, but they will monitor it twice a year.

The benefits of the HiFu treatment are that if it isn't completely successful the first time it can be repeated twice more, and he could also have any traditional treatment or operation - so more options. But I pray that this will obliterate the cancer completely.  I desperately want my husband back to normal and cancer free.

I am being a miserably old morose grumpy bear at the moment, for which I am sorry.  I'm finding it difficult to drag my spirits any higher than my kneecaps.  But I have, for the first time in ages spent a half hour reading blogs and I am determined to try to shake myself and get back my sense of humour.  It's just that I wish it were me not Dan having to go through all of this.

All prayers will be very gratefully received, and I will, of course, keep you all in the loop when Dan has his op.

One more thing you could do here to help me take my mind off the worry wagon is to ask me any questions you may like to ask.  I am well aware I am late to this event, and that I haven't done much "asking" myself, but it would be good if anyone had anything to ask me, no matter how silly, and would cheer me up even more.

Hugs!

The Wise Old Owl......

I was going to leave this post till after our move, but I thought I would go ahead with it regardless.  If I don't answer your comment until next week, don't worry, it will only be due to us switching telephone/internet providers and not having any broadband.

I suppose in a way this links in to my last post about Dan suddenly discovering that he enjoys to swat me on the bottom with increasingly regularity, despite the fact that most of you are used to this sort of spanky demonstration of HOHiness.  I hesitate to call it a spank, as it is only one, but it can happen at any time, and usually when I am not expecting it.

It can have all sorts of connotations, such as a quick warning swipe, an "I just can't resist swatting you when you bend over like that" spank, a swift volley during love-making, and even a quick love pat when he comes to bed (I am nearly always asleep and it wakes me up) as if he is just reminding me of possession.

The reason I am noticing this is due to the fact that Dan never ever spanked me in any way at all, during our entire marriage, until I asked him to just over a year ago.  I have never suggested any of these quick swats - they are entirely his own idea, and long may they continue.

But there are some other differences in Dan that I am noticing too.  Just very small differences, but they seem to be on the increase.

He now regularly lifts one eyebrow.

If that is ignored, he has no compunction whatsoever about warning me verbally, regardless of who is around.  He has also started to give me very small orders to do things.

For example, we have a TV in our bedroom.  It is seldom watched except in the mornings, for the news and weather.  Dan will sit up in bed sipping his morning tea (we often take it in turns these days to make the tea) and he will be commenting on the news/weather or going through what is on the agenda for the day.  With me, the news goes in one ear and out the other unless it is extra interesting.

So the other morning I decided to read my Kindle whilst he watched the TV.  This worked okay for about ten minutes, then I was aware of the silence.  Dan had switched it off and was watching me instead.

"Put your Kindle down and give me a kiss" he said.

Immediately I was on high alert.  What had I done?

"I was only reading while you were watching the news" I told him, putting it away. Whereupon he put a hand behind my neck, pulling me towards him, and repeated his request.

When he was satisfied I was spanked and then given another instruction, before we both looked at the clock in horror, and nearly collided as we raced each other into the shower. It was an unexpected start to my morning which made it all the more enjoyable.

The other thing I have noticed about Dan is his sudden concern for my safety and welfare.

I'm bewildered by it.  I've always had to carry my mobile phone with me when driving, ever since I had a puncture on a very busy dual carriageway and decided to walk for help.  He's also not keen on me climbing ladders of any height above two feet, as I wobble. But now he has several times ordered me to go to bed as he has observed me to be "dead on my feet", forbidden me to lift anything he discerns is even remotely heavy, and even insisted I go for a longish walk as he felt I should get some fresh air and exercise.  What on earth is all this?!  Is there something I should know?

Finally, (and I have saved the best till last), something very strange seems to have happened to my body.

Lillie (of Lillie and Ian - she used to have the most wonderful blog) described it as the clitoral tug.  With me, it seems to have become a full body jerk!

I can't stop it and it's getting worse - or more prolific!

It started when Dan caressed my bosoms (he always used to be a boob man), but it now happens when he strokes my bottom, or in fact, any other part of me. It has been known to happen even if he just runs his finger down my thigh, or my arm.

It's a bit like a mini electric shock.  My whole body - not just my pelvis - gives a reactive jerk.

At first we thought it was funny, but now my body has developed a mind of its own.  The slightest intimate contact and it responds. I go so far as to say that even after making love, my body has what can only be described as aftershocks.

Whilst I am secretly smug and exhilarated, Dan is perplexed, and worried that I will react to someone else just brushing past me.

I have tried to explain that my body isn't interested in anyone else, and wouldn't react in such a way. However, I would very much like to know if anyone else here has a similar reaction?  This has only happened since we started TTWD.  It is as if every nerve in my body is standing to attention, with its focus on Dan.

If you do have anything to say to allay my fears that my kinkiness has reached even greater heights, please tell me.  I don't want this to stop, but oh it is rather weird.

Weird but wonderful. I keep thinking that I've been missing out all these years, and that you all know about this effect, but have kept it from me. Hmmmm...

Spanky Dan(ky)!

Once a month, on a Sunday, we go walking with three other couples.

Regardless of the weather, we trudge across the countryside negotiating styles, ditches, slippery "plank" bridges, and kissing gates.

We deceive ourselves into thinking we are pioneers and pathfinders discovering ways through the wilderness.

The truth is that we rarely walk further than 6 miles, and we always end our walk at a suitable local hostelry and quench our thirsts with something suitably alcoholic (apart from the drivers) and a well-earned two-course lunch, usually from the carvery if there is one.

We've known these friends for years and years.  Our children went to the local schools together, for at least some time in their scholastic careers, and became friends, attending the same birthday parties and discos whilst growing up.

We all have different characters, but we get on well together and chat about all things under the sun as we wander the countryside.

We have a mixture of likes and dislikes, live in an assortment of houses from modern to very old, and we are an assortment of heights, shapes and sizes.

But as far as I am aware, it is only Dan and I who live, shall we say, a slightly different lifestyle to the others, and until now it has never bothered us in the slightest. Still doesn't - only now Dan has realised he needs to be just a tad more careful.

We were out walking last Sunday.  It was a horrid day to begin with - windy and wet, which is beginning to be the norm around here.

The footpaths and tracks were flooded or muddy, or both.  Walking was difficult and we were slipping and sliding all over the place.  We were enormously glad when the pub finally hove into view.

We'd left our cars in the car park at the back of the pub.  (We always do circular walks.) We take a change of footwear with us as we wear quite heavy duty hiking boots, and most of us wear waterproof jackets, hats and gloves.  It's a relief to discard all the heavy outerwear and put light shoes on before entering the pub.

There's usually a lot of joshing and banter as we all discuss what we want to drink and what the quality of the meal will be.

Dan had quickly changed his shoes and jacket and moved away from the back of the car to give me room so I didn't see exactly what happened.  It was whilst travelling home that he told me.

"Blimey, Jen's got a big arse on her these days."

"How can you say such a thing.  No she hasn't."

"She bloody has."

(I could tell that something had got Dan on edge, because he doesn't swear very much at all unless he's angry.  He rarely does in front of me.)

"Well what were you doing looking at her arse?"

"Believe me, it was hard to avoid."

"And?"

"I'd moved away from the car boot to give you a bit of room.  I'd walked over to have a chat with Giles as he was waiting for Jen.  One minute she was standing up, then the next she was bent over untying her shoelaces with her arse stuck right up in the air in front of me.  I nearly fell over her."

He was looking very sheepish.

"It was purely instinctive.  I didn't give it a thought."

"Give what a thought?"

Horrors!  Please no, not that!"

Dan's voice wavered a bit.

"I lifted my hand up to give her a bloody good spank."

"Oh my goodness!"  Now Dan had every atom of my attention.  "You didn't!"

"It was a very near call, I can tell you.  My hand was high in the air, just at the second before it began its downward arc, when I happened to look up.  John and Giles were watching me completely wide-eyed with horror, John speechless for the first time ever since I've known him.

"Giles managed to gasp out "I really wouldn't do that if I were you" and turned quite white with dread."

"Good grief.  What did you do?"

"I just managed to come to my senses and stop.  It was awful.  I just wasn't in command of my own actions. My hand had developed a life completely of its own."

Poor Dan.  He was virtually traumatised.  I was in fits of giggling just imagining the situation.  Jen would have had him for breakfast!  Lunch, anyway.  She would've killed him.  She wouldn't have seen the jokey side at all.

"Look what you've done to me," Dan said plaintively. "I've lost the ability to look at a bottom without picturing my hand giving it a good spank."

By this time I was crying with laughter and searching for a tissue to wipe my eyes.

Dan glanced sideways at me.

"I wouldn't have stopped if it had been your bottom in front of me, you know."  He grinned smugly.

I grinned smugly back.

I was thinking that all my friends would say "Welcome to the Club, Dan."

Spanking Fantasy versus Reality

Anastasia Vitsky is hosting the Spanking romance round table discussion this week.  The subject is Fantasy versus Reality as it pertains to spanking.

I often think I am a female version of Walter Mitty. So many fantasies, so little room in my head for them all. Around four, full length, unwritten novels so far....

As a child I "trotted, cantered and galloped" my way home the two miles I lived from school.  My entire life was spent fantasizing about horses. I waited over twenty years before those fantasies became reality.

As a teen I read every Mills and Boon romance I could lay my hands on.  I especially fantasised about tall, blonde men with blue eyes.  Yet my husband is only an inch taller than me, and has (had) dark hair and deep brown eyes, and the power to make me melt on a daily basis.

I never fantasised about spanking.  Less than two years ago the only spanking I knew about was the type I had used on my son when he was a child, and driving me up the wall.  I would chase him with a wooden spoon, out the kitchen door, and around the garden.  He's now a tall and handsome 32 year old, and well drilled in evasion tactics.

So to gasps of horror from all writers present, I admit that it was that book which enlightened me about a very different world - one which I knew absolutely nothing about.  I read it once disbelievingly, and then a third and a fourth time.  It caused my pulse to quicken and my mouth to form an O of amazement. Such things?  Such things to fantasise about.  Oh my!
LOL!

From that book I discovered that other people wrote books about spanking, albeit in different guises.  I was horrified - and hooked.  I typed in 'spanking' on Google, and discovered a whole alternate universe. Not quite the universe I usually fantasised about, but goodness me, grown women being spanked!

My fantasies drew me to seek answers.  What a world I found myself in. Did I dare?  Yes, I did.  Forget my subconscious and my inner goddess - I discovered I had been missing out big time all my life.

So for me, my spanking fantasy became my spanking reality.  Not perhaps in quite the way I thought it would; I found out that I am what is referred to as a "Spanko" for one thing.  But it certainly has its benefits.

Perhaps we can all, to some extent, make our fantasies into our realities, if we are prepared to be flexible, and run with them.

I know I have collected on my Kindle in excess of three hundred books all with one common denominator - spanking - and I think that is pretty good going for under two years.  If you are a writer, I'll bet I have several of your books.

I am now writing my own stories - but are they my fantasies, or are they my reality?

It's for me to know, and for you to conjecture.

Perhaps that is part of the fantasy?
