I have a penfriend in Australia who I have written to since we were fifteen. Now we email. She sent me the following, and I would like to share it with you as it's just how I feel these days!
Australian Love Poem
Of course I love ya darlin
You're a bloody top-notch bird
And when I say you're gorgeous
I mean every single word.
So ya bum is on the big side
I don't mind a bit of flab
It means that when I'm ready
There's something there to grab.
So your belly isn't flat no more
I tell ya, I don't care
So long as when I cuddle ya
I can get my arms round there.
No Sheila who is your age
Has nice round perky breasts,
They just gave in to gravity
But I know ya did ya best.
I'm tellin' ya the truth now
I never tell ya lies
I think it's very sexy
That you've dimples on ya thighs.
I swear on me nanna's grave now
The moment that we met
I thought you was as good as
I was ever gonna get.
No matter what you look like
I'll always love ya dear,
Now shut up while the cricket's on
And fetch another beer.
Brings a lump to your throat doesn't it?!
And for the purists - remember that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration. The hummingbird's delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning and that laughter is life's sweetest creation.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone, everywhere!
lol... that's a very unique love poem!

Hi Ami, bah, stupid phone! I apologise if you get 2 comments.
ReplyDeleteLove the poem LoL. Wishing you and Starman a very Happy Valentines Day. Hope you have a wonderful day.
Hugs
Roz
No, you're okay, only one comment. At least you know how to work your phone. I gave up long ago and only use mine for calls now! And yes, the poem is great!

Love the pic. Hubby and I have walked that way often. Also love the poem. I'm saving it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day to you Starman.

DeleteSorry, my fingers got twisted up!
DeleteThe poem is marvellous - and unfortunately, so true! Especially in the 'going south' department. Sigh....
Hugs, Ami
OMGoodness!!!! Perfect! For us change the cricket to Football or as Americans call it Soccer, and it fits.
ReplyDeleteMy Scotsman still thinks I'm sexy, so I'm just not going to analyze it!
S now has the 'great and incapacitating cold' so is having to miss his soccer match! I am still wheezing. Hopeless.
DeleteThank goodness our men sag at the same rate as us! Well, unless you are married to a toy boy that is. Now there's a thought....
(Help! Just joking!)
Hugs, Ami
lol I loved the poem! Happy Valentine's Day! ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the humour!
DeleteHugs, Ami
Happy Valentines Day to you, too.
ReplyDeleteYep, that's another one come and gone!
DeleteHugs, Ami
ROFL...The poem is great! Thank you for the lovely bit about the hummingbird.
ReplyDeleteWishing you and Starman a lovely, loving Valentine's day, evening, and night. ;)
Hugs and Blessings,
Cat
I was actually only going to write the bit about the humming bird, but then the poem arrived in the email and I couldn't resist it.
DeleteSadly still got THE COLD Cat....
Hugs, Ami
Happy valentines day to you and Starman.
ReplyDeleteThe poem was really funny x
There is something about the Aussie's sense of humour that appeals to me. It's brash and to the point. Just love it!
DeleteHugs, Ami
Loved the poem, fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHope you and your Starman had a wonderful day.
Love,
Ronnie
xx
The poem was a good one, but we still have our b----y colds and feel rotten, so no going out this year. Never mind.
DeleteHugs, Ami
That was a great poem! Happy belated VD to you.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly was funny Susie. A good pick up on a winter's day.
DeleteHugs, Ami
That Susie is just not right!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, a fantastic and realistic poem! Thanks for sharing. I hope you fell asleep, entangled in Starman's arms, completely exhausted ( oh yeah...and a hot bottom ) last night!
Love Willie
I feel like shouting "Bah humbug!" at the top of my voice. Been in bed all week and now S has the lurg and I'm still coughing like a maniac. So a hot bot would be a complete pipe dream. In fact I wonder whether there is an association that is the opposite of Spankers Anonymous for those times when you are suffering complete withdrawal symptoms, if you know what I mean, and with no chance of even a 'quick fix'!
DeleteHugs, Ami
Very fun poem Ami!!! :). Hope that you and your Starman had a wonderful Valentine's Day!!!!(((((Hugs)))))!
ReplyDelete<3 Katie
Thanks Katie, it's one of the better poems from Oz lately, and I love their humour very much.
