Ella's Meme

Ella came up with this meme and it is just excellent. So without further ado, I am going to have a go at answering the questions.

1  Take a look at the walls of your home, which picture/object is your favourite and why?

I love water colours, and we have quite a few on our walls. I don't think I have a favourite, but I do prefer the older ones.

2  What is/are your favourite perfume(s)?

My favourite perfume has been Dolce and Gabbana's Light Blue for years, but I also like to wear Flower Bomb by Viktor Rolf in the summer time.

3  How many pairs of shoes do you own? Have you ever hidden new shoes from your spouse?

LOL! Dare I answer truthfully? Er - no. I sadly confess that my shoe fetish occasionally gets the better of me. I do have rather a lot of pairs, and just maybe, some of them are still unworn. Gulp. Did I just say that? I have tried to streamline my cupboards by donating fifty or so pairs to a charity shop..... I dare not say more with Dan looking lifting his eyebrow at me.

4  Snacks - sweet, salty or both? If you could choose one snack, and it magically had no calories, what would it be?

I prefer savoury snacks, like cashew nuts and salted almonds, but then I get a humongous desire for chocolate. I love dark chocolate the best, but do admit to loving Maltesers. If they had no calories, then I would buy a big box and eat the lot!

5  What are your favourite cut flowers?

I am another one who loves blue irises. I am also a great fan of Old-fashioned roses. And sweetpeas. And lilies of the valley.

6  Without using a real name, describe one person in your life with whom you have a hard time being patient.

I really am unable to do that publicly. But yes, there is someone who absolutely drives me insane. They are soooooo boring!

7  What food do you love that your husband hates? What food does your spouse love that is "yeech" to you?

We eat most things around here. But I love peanut butter, both types - crunchy and smooth - and Dan cannot abide the stuff.

The thing Dan loves to eat that I hate are radishes. They are far to sharp. Oh, and olives.

8  What is the song you associate with meeting your honey?

I don't remember any particular song, but we had our first ever dance to Black Sabbath way back before they made the big time.

9  Do you have a favourite movie that you like to watch every few months or once a year?

I love A Good Year with Russell Crowe, and Dan loves the Bourne Identity with Matt Damon.

10  What collection(s) do you have? How did that collection start?

I used to collect all sorts of things, but have stream-lined my life these days as I was running out of space.

11  Where would you like to go on your next vacation? Is there somewhere else on your bucket list?

We both love to travel and are very fortunate to have done quite a bit of it. We have some small trips planned for the autumn but have not yet decided on a long-haul. There are so many places on our bucket list that they are too numerous to mention. The world is a wonderful place.

12  If you could buy clothes at one store, at what store would you shop?

I'm very fond of Phase Eight.

13  What gift(s) from your spouse have been the most loved and appreciated?

A small item of jewellery Dan bought me for my 21st birthday, is very precious to me. But the two items the most loved and appreciated are our children. They are priceless.

14  Name one item of your spouse's clothing that you would love to throw away.

I can happily name this - I already threw it away a month ago! He had this most awful, smelly, horrible bathrobe that he had had for years and years! And before you all lunge at me, I threw it away with his blessing. In fact, it almost walked out of its own accord!

15  What is the submissive action or inaction of which you are most proud?

Quietly getting up and slipping into the spare room in the middle of the night instead of shaking Dan awake when he is snoring his head off. I always used to shake him awake and swear and growl at him. Now I carefully pick up my glass of water and my pillow, and tiptoe along along the corridor to a room where I can sleep unhindered. It doesn't happen often, but we both get a good night's sleep that way, and he wakes me quite cheerily the next morning with a coffee in my favourite mug.

  1. Ami,
I love your answers! Not much to disagree with in what you have to say. You did not mention gin!

    1. LOL! I didn't mention gin because it is a DRINK. We both love G and T. I hate beer of any type and any drinks that are bitter tasting. Maybe there should be a 'drinks' question in here somewhere. I did enjoy this meme though, didn't you?

  2. Love your answers Ami...I love peanut butter also. Radishes are good in salads but I do not like olives at all. Surprised you could name a few favorite flowers as much as you love all kinds. Ooh shoes...gonna have to post a picture of my favorite new boots. ;)

    1. You're right. It is very difficult picking out a favourite flower, but I have always tended towards fragrant flowers. Can't wait to see your new boots!

  3. Ami you are such a character? Love the shoe picture! I do enjoy peanut butter and olives.... Not radishes so much!

    1. You are so right, Minelle! I wish those shoes were mine, but if they were I wouldn't be able to wear them these days. Shoes like that are history for me, unfortunately. And when we next go out to eat in that little Spanish restaurant, you know, the one around the corner with the wine barrels along one wall and that waiter called Manuel, I promise to let you eat all my olives! And if we have paella, you can have my mussels as well. Since that incident on the beach, I don't eat them any more.

  4. Loved reading here. I too love blue iris and hate radishes. Can't wait to do this one. Lovely answer about the best gift from your husband - really touched me.

    1. Goody, that means we are sure to share the same taste in salads, which makes eating out so much simpler.

I am looking forward to your answers when you do this meme.

  5. I love your answers! But I had no idea that you were really such a shoe lover - how are we such good friends? I also don't think I'll be snacking with either of you, I don't go for radishes, but peanut butter is worse!

    1. Oh, come on, PK, you know I got a bad spanking for buying too many shoes! LOL!

I may just lure you along next time I go on a shoe-buying quest. There are the most delicious "flatties" around at the moment - shall we say, for the feet of the more mature woman? LOL! And we will go have tapas and you can do the choosing. I adore tapas!

  6. Hello Ami,
Now I will surprise you, too. I also wear D & G Light Blue. Love lilies of the valley and hate olives. Your answers were lovely.
I used to do community theater quite a bit. My favorite director would have called those shoes "F--k-Me Pumps." Couldn't wear them anymore (well, not outside our bedroom), but they are just exquisite.

    1. That is really weird, isn't it? I've worn Light Blue for years and years, probably since it first came out. I am so boring when it comes to perfume. I try new ones, then go back to Light Blue. And we have an old flint wall with lilies of the valley growing in the shade of it.

The shoes are my dream shoes. But my feet no longer let me where such confections. The last time I tried to do so I nearly broke my neck and Dan had apoplexy. LOL! I always think of that song which had the line "...not in these shoes..."

  8. Oh, shoes! I love shoes, especially almond-toed patent heels. Sadly, my knees don't share my enthusiasm. A Good Year is my favourite too and I share your taste in flowers. I wish I could grow Lily of the Valley in my garden.

Where we differ strongly is the gin that Meredith mentioned. It is my favourite spirit and I can't open the bottle without inhaling its aroma.

This is a great meme, enjoyed reading your answers.

    1. Shoes are my downfall, Rosie. But now I am retired, I can wear shoes that are comfortable rather than fashionable, and my feet feel so much better for it. But I still like pretty shoes. There are some lovely dusty pink suede shoes with small heels in Hotter for this autumn. In a range of colours if you don't want pink. But I think I might splurge.

We love G and T and at present like Tanqueray gin with a slice of lime. But as it's summer, or meant to be, we are drinking lots of Pimms. At least it's a summery drink.

    1. I have to whisper the word 'shoes' round here. I do plan to have another clear out. Some of them look beautiful, but I no longer wear them, so someone else might as well enjoy them. I don't like wobbling along any more.

      Radishes and olives? Yuck!

  11. You have some great answers. I still don't react well to Ty's snoring. I usually pinch his nose. He doesn't wake up. Black Sabbath, that's an interesting choice. And you really gave away 50 pairs of shoes? I don't even own that many. I want to do this meme.

    1. Pinch his nose! Shriek! I would have to run ever so fast!

Yes, Black Sabbath. They played at the school dance Dan and I met at. We were all sooooo young!

You just cannot imagine my shoe addiction. I think I am just about conquering it, and then I have a relapse. Snort! It isn't funny!

  12. Wonderful meme from Ella.

Loved reading your answers. Thought I had a lot of shoes but not as many as you. I'm just about to give some of my shoes to charity. Can't wear heels any more.

    Peanut butter, no thanks.

I guess I have to start off by asking what's a meme?

Anyway, thanks for posting the Dolce Gabbana poster. As you can imagine, I enjoyed it immensly.

Gave away 50 pairs of shoes? Good Lord. I only have 3 pair.
Where do you keep your shoes? A Fleetwood trailer?

I see you have the same problem I do about snoring. It's the wife. I have to tip toe to the guest bedroom every now and then. Waking them up does good for about 5 minutes and then the freight train starts up again.

    Well, happy writng!
